Rockford Speedway

Rich in racing tradition, the Rockford Speedway is celebrating more than 50 years of operation here in Loves Park. The high banked quarter mile oval is known as Mid-America's Finest Racetrack.

The Speedway hosts major events like the National Short Track Championships and the Spring Classic.

In summer, sprawling Rock Cut State Park offers many miles of mountain biking, hiking, equestrian trails, rewarding fishing, swimming and boating. When the snow falls, winter campers, ice fishermen, cross-country skiers and snowmobiles dominate this 3,092-acre park in northern Illinois.

There is canoeing, boating (motors are limited to new spongebob games 10 hp) and fishing for muskie, northern pike, walleye, catfish and crappie in 162-acre Pierce Lake. Olson Lake has a swimming beach, which charges a fee for swimming. Rock Cut has 15 miles of hiking paths, some of which are shared with mountain bikes. There are 14 miles of horse trails. The park has 212 campsites with electrical hookups and 60 tent sites.

This is an exciting addition here in Loves Park. This facility is home to 8 ball diamonds, Project Play Works which is a 24,000 square foot, wooden interactive playground complete with swings, bridges, towers, sand box, and slides.

Toddlers through teens can visit the playground for hours of fun and excitement and soon to be added is Project Skate Works. This will feature an assortment of ramps, rails and other challenging obstacles to appease fans of in-line skating and skateboarding. Midair 360-degree turns, rail slides and flips will be the tricks of the trade at Skate Works; set to open in the summer of 2004.
